[Illiad] YEAR TWELVE, AND THE SIX DAYS OF REMEMBRANCE
Posted:Mon Nov 17 09:14:22 2008
YEAR FREAKING TWELVE! Minor administrative trivia: November 16, 2008 was the final cartoon of UF's eleventh year. The day of this posting, November 17, 2008, is the beginning of year twelve. Twelve. Years. And in my 20s I thought I was going to be a petroleum geologist!
SIX DAYS OF REMEMBRANCE: I've received hundreds of emails asking about the six days of cartoons starting November 10, 2008. I'm thinking about how to present all six, and once I have an answer, we'll be talking to our merchandisers about having the hi-res prints available for purchase. Watch this space: I'll have an answer sometime this week.
[Illiad] THE BIG TEN YEAR BOOK OF UF IS GREEN-LIGHTED!
Posted:Fri Nov 14 11:26:51 2008
The Big UF Book is at the press! It is with much pleasure that I announce we have hit the Magic Number of pre-orders for the Big Ten Year Hardcover Tome of UF! Our publisher, Manning, has shipped the files off to the press and the plates are being burned even as I write this!
My thanks to everyone who took a chance with us on having this volume produced! If you are in North America, you should have your book in time to slip under the Christmas tree this year! International customers, we hope to get the books to you in time, but predicting global shipping can be difficult at best. Please forgive us if it doesn't arrive by December 25th.
If you're holding off on getting a copy, please keep in mind that due to the cost of these volumes there will likely only ever be a single print run, and the print run is small, 10,000 units or less for an audience of around 1.5 million. Once they're gone, that'll be it. I myself will only have a few author's copies to keep. Don't say I didn't warn you!
[Didactylos] WORLD COMMUNITY GRID: RECRUIT 3
Posted:Thu Oct 23 23:48:04 2008
In one short month, Team UserFriendly.Org will be three years old. We have done well! But we won't be sitting on our laurels - this month is Recruit 3 month. Tell your friends, colleagues and family. Try to get at least three new members signed up. As geeks, we have the skills to help get new members up and running, and the knowledge to answer any questions they may have.
The team map has been updated with a few new features. If you haven't looked in a while, check it out. There is a lot of detail to explore.
World Community Grid have a new promotional video explaining what they do. It is a great introduction — show it to people as part of your own recruitment efforts. This is the first in a series, so there is more good stuff to come.
From the bottom of my heart: thank you! Your efforts are amazing, all of you.
